Rain Hits Concrete
Story Behind The Song by Andy Cairns (Mar 29th, 2006)
This started with a tape of drums Neil sent me. The pattern on a track sounded like the pit-pat sting of rain hitting concrete. I wrote down a little ditty, much in the style of ‘Polar Bear’ off ‘Never Apologise Never Explain’.
Outside it was lashing down and on TV was a environment report about how very soon indeed it could be curtains for us all. Michael came up with the main riff and chorus chords and we took it from there.
We wanted the track to be driving, relentless and oppressive. The darker souls among you could think of Droog, Alex from ‘A Clockwork Orange’ singing ‘Singing In The Rain’.

Lyrics
Can you feel it?
Can you feel it?
Can you feel it?
Can you feel it?
All you optimists
Can kiss my ass
Because the future is relentlessly bleak
And nature has the last laugh
Rain hits concrete
Rain hits concrete
Rain hits concrete
Rain hits concrete
Sing about what you know
So here we go
This town, this country, this place
A crying shame
A fucking disgrace
Go
Rain hits concrete
Rain hits concrete
Rain hits concrete
Rain hits concrete
Rain hits concrete
Rain hits concrete
Rain hits concrete
Rain hits concrete
Can you feel it?
Can you feel it?
Can you feel it?
Can you feel it?
Rain hits concrete
Rain hits concrete
Rain hits concrete
Rain hits concrete
Rain hits concrete
Rain hits concrete
Rain hits concrete
Rain hits concrete
